About Encounter Water Sports

Being local and with more than 30 years experience in teaching aquatic activities; ocean awareness and ocean safety, we know the surf, lake and local conditions very well. We will get you up on your board and having fun in no time.

Your safety is our first priority! We will have a full safety briefing at the start of each lesson to teach you about any dangers that you might encounter during your lesson.

Surf lessons are conducted at Surfers Beach, Middleton

(on the corner of Chapman Road and Surfers Parade). This location could change due to safety concerns.

Introductory SUP lessons take place in the safe, calm waters of Encounter Lakes, Victor Harbor

(on the corner of Bartel Boulevard and Matthew Flinders Drive).

Andy and any other instructors assisting Andy have a minimum of level 1 Surf Coaching qualification from Surfing Australia, which includes current Senior First Aid, CPR, surf rescue or bronze medallion certificate; and a Working With children check.

Our group sessions are small and personalized, so everyone will have one-on-one-time with Andy and other instructors.

Introductory lessons are conducted in the safe, calm waters of Encounter Lakes. After a full safety briefing you will be given instruction on correct paddle grip & technique & self-rescue. Then it’s time to hit the water & we’ll have you paddling like a pro in no time!
